A championship football team starts with a great base, the linemen.  While often times not a glorious job, without this base to build on, the rest of the team can’t perform at their best.  The grade of your new field is the base upon which the rest of the field is built.  Whether you’re building a grass or synthetic field, the grade is something that needs to be exactly right.
